All of our leaders are volunteers. Our office-holders are elected by us for three-year terms. Our webmaster is a volunteer with technical skills. Team leaders are volunteer members who lead a group of members toward a particular goal for a specific period of time.
President: Helenor Webb.
Helenor is the Senior Warden of St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Casa Grande, AZ. She has held that position for 5 years. One of her talents is identifying skills needed to achieve a goal, and finding the right person with those skills.
Vice-President: Mrs. Kathryn Elliott-Hudson.
Kathryn is a member of Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix and a member of the Trinity Vestry. She is an experienced healthcare provider, counseling patients through tough times. Her expertise is in interpersonal relations.
Treasurer: Brother Lee Hughes, OP.
Br. Lee is a member of St Mary’s in Phoenix, where he can often be found in the choir and the pulpit. He is a member of the Dominican Friars and has served as Secretary of UBE-AZ. He believes that “What we do for the African American community benefits everybody. Anything that knocks down barriers is a good thing.”
Secretary: The Rev. Deacon Susan Erickson
Susan Erickson is a deacon serving at St. Philip’s in the Hills, Tucson. Ordained in 2020, she is a retired lawyer and lives part-time in San Francisco, where she attends and serves at Grace Cathedral. At St. Philip’s, Susan organizes parishioners to address food insecurity through several different ministries; she also facilitates a weekly Bible study. She and UBE member and fellow St. Philippian Nancy Atherton work to expand the reach of UBE in Tucson.
