More equality will exist in the Episcopal Church when African Americans (and other minorities) can occupy more leadership roles within the Church.  Leaders must be developed, mentored, encouraged, and educated.  We support a strong emphasis on education as one way to fight racism.

SAU was founded in 1867 by the Freedmen’s Commission of the Episcopal Church’s Board of Missions as a school for formerly enslaved people.  It is one of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).   We fund a scholarship each year.  Funding has been $2,000, but an increase is sorely needed.   https://www.st-aug.edu/sau-episcopal-church/

We fund camp scholarships for young people of Color at the racially integrated diocesan camp at Chapel Rock in Prescott, AZ.  At Camp we will dwell in our faith through prayer, fellowship, storytelling, games and music, just to name a few things, all while exploring the call that God has for us, and rejoicing in who God has made us to be.
